Since its original release in 1983, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve and push the limits of timekeeping toughness. These new models carry on that tradition with designs in the image of the mysterious ninja, specially trained medieval martial artists who are said to have served powerful Japanese shoguns and feudal lords of the past. These new models represent the unmatched physical toughness and indomitable spirit that are very much a part of the ninja and the G-SHOCK cultures. Base models are the DW-6900, with its iconic front button and three digital dials, the standard digital DW-5600, and the octagon case GA-2100. Each of these new models incorporates ninjutsu (ninja martial art) design elements: ninja bashiri (ninja running) for the DW-6900NNJ, suiton no jutsu (water-escape technique) for the DW-5600NNJ, and katon no jutsu (fireball technique) for the GA-2100NNJ. In addition, the shapes of ninja projectiles and throwing stars are used for various design elements of the dial, backlight, band loop, and back cover.
